Why should I use a recoil buffer?
Why are BlackJack AK-47 recoil buffers not as thick as other manufacturer's buffers?
Do I need to disassemble the recoil spring assembly to install a BlackJack AK-47 recoil buffer?
Why do you offer different colors?
What is the life expectancy of Blackjack recoil buffers?
When should I choose the green or black AK recoil buffer?
Q: Why should I use a recoil buffer?
A: There are many benefits, the most important reason in my opinion is to provide protection against wear, stress, and metal fatigue that occurs when the bolt carrier impacts the rear of the receiver. Other benefits from using a recoil buffer include reduced felt recoil and quieter operation.
Q: Why are BlackJack AK-47 recoil buffers not as thick as other manufactures buffers?
A: Some types of AK's experience jams and feeding problems after installation of thicker buffers. Using thinner buffers allows the action to cycle closer to the way it was designed to operate.
Q: Do I need to disassemble the recoil spring assembly to install a BlackJack AK-47 recoil buffer?
A: No. BlackJack AK recoil buffers are designed to slide over the assembled spring assembly (flat side forward, ramped side rear).

Q: Why do you offer different colors?
A: Mostly personal choice. I offer buffers in different grades of hardness. Softer buffers reduce more felt recoil, harder buffers tend to last longer. (Most of my buffers are now only produced in the teal color which is somewhere in between the old green and black and is of a better grade material.)
Q: What is the life expectancy of Blackjack recoil buffers?
A: Well over 5000 rds for the black, slightly less for the softer green.
Q: When should I choose the green or black AK recoil buffer?
A: Green BlackJack AK recoil buffers are softer and intended to provide maximum recoil reduction for the controlled fire shooter and should provide several thousand rounds of service. If you are bump firing or shooting high volume/high sustained rate of fire, then the harder black recoil buffers are recommended. The Extreme Duty AK Buffer, which is designed to stand up to the extreme heat and abuse of full auto or extended bump firing, is now available.
Q: Will you ship over-seas?
A: I have quit accepting non-US orders directly from this site however I do have an associate that will facilitate over-seas shipping. If there is something you need sent abroad please e-mail me with the details and I will do my best to get it to you.
